The cheery Russell Terrier was created by England’s “Sporting Parson” for use in foxhunts. It is active, curious, and sociable. The endearing Russell Terrier is a hardworking worker who appears to be a plush toy that comes to life. These jovial little guys have rectangular, compact body that is 10 to 12 inches tall at the shoulder and is packed with attitude. The breed’s lovable distinguishing feature, the highly inquisitive expression, is brought out by their dark, almond-shaped eyes, and perky V-shaped ears. All three coat styles have primarily white backgrounds with tan, black, or both markings. Russells have a confident, natural walk that betrays the breed’s inherent freedom.
